Hello lovely readers! It is currently 8:36 a.m. in Cape San Blas, Florida as I am writing this. I’m with my best friend, Hana, on our annual, beach vacation. Unfortunately, it is time to head home and though we didn’t leave at 6:00 a.m. as planned, we are hoping to leave any minute now. As we reflect on the week, my best friend and I are both extremely happy that for once we are leaving tan and not burnt! We are also excited to leave with amazing memories of another year’s beach vacation.
Overview of the Week
This past Saturday, Hana, her family, myself, and a few more family friends made our way down to Port Saint Joe, Florida where we are staying in a beach house on Cape San Blas. Throughout the week, this beach house has accompanied 15 people! With all of the commotion, there was never a dull moment. Actually, it was quite entertaining and it almost makes me wish I had a larger family. Aside from laying out in the sun, paddle boarding, and watching the first season of Riverdale on Netflix, which I highly recommend, not much else has occurred. Though I won’t share too many details yet, I’ve been working on two more posts which I’m very excited to share with you in the upcoming weeks!
Cape San Blas : Review of the Location
One rule of thumb, bring bugspray everywhere! Throughout the trip, we only left the house a couple of times. The first time was to eat out at a local restaurant called Skully’s Low Country Boil. It’s a very small restaurant and there is only outside dining, but the food was good and the host was friendly. The second time out was to grab ice cream at Cone Heads. We haven’t yet eaten at the restaurant there, but the icecream is great. Though the place is cute, the prices are definitely not. For us, grabbing a sweet treat from Cone Heads is more about tradition than preference.
As for the surrounding area in Cape San Blas, there isn’t much to do. Keep in mind though, the beach makes up for it. It is never too crowded, it’s kept clean, and the other renters are always kind and respectful. For grocery shopping, you’re best bet is a local gas station or convenience store. Lastly, if given the chance to go into town, do it! There’s many cute shops to visit!
