On January 1st, 2017 God said to me during my devotion, “This year will be hard, but remember that I will be with you.”
I never saw it coming but this month has been the most stressful of my life. Between lacrosse, my high school dance show, a dance performance at church, wrestling, school work, and having to repeatedly reschedule my license test, I’ve broken down crying more times than I can count.
Through it all, I had forgotten God’s message and attempted to rely on my own strength. Of course this never worked, and I became more exhausted every day. Now as things have calmed down, I’ve realized how distanced I have become with God. I went from reading my Bible and talking with Him every day to making my quiet time the lowest of my priorities.
But even as I strayed from God, He never left me. I’m so thankful to serve a God, the One and Only God, that is unconditionally loving and forgiving, only asking that I seek Him first. If I can share anything with you, it is that by keeping a God-centered perspective about life, everything suddenly becomes so much simpler. So when life seems like too much to handle, remind yourself that God is in total control if you allow Him to be and that even though life gets hard we have the opportunity to spend eternity in Heaven praising our Creator! With God and by God, we can live a purposeful, joyful, and fulfilling life.
Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)
22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
Psalm 5:11 (ESV)
11 But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
let them ever sing for joy,
and spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may exult in you.
1 Peter 5:7 (ESV)
7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
